Treatment Overview

Revolutionary Skin Renewal with HALO Tribrid®

HALO Tribrid® is a groundbreaking hybrid fractional laser that addresses multiple skin concerns, including wrinkles, sun damage, acne scars, and uneven tone.

Using both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths, it treats the skin’s surface and deeper layers in just 1-2 sessions. The 2940 nm wavelength resurfaces the skin for smoother texture, while the 1470 nm wavelength stimulates collagen and repairs deeper damage. HALO Tribid delivers both immediate and lasting skin improvement.

Laser Treatment

Targets
Wrinkles and fine lines, sun damage & dyschromia, acne scars/texture irregularities, signs of aging, pigmented lesions, enlarged pores, uneven tone, and collagen remodeling.

Overview
The world’s first triple-wavelength fractional resurfacing combining 2940 nm (ablative Er:YAG) + 1927 nm (non-ablative fractional for pigment/tone) + 1470 nm (non-ablative for deeper dermal renewal/collagen) in one treatment.

Multi-depth correction in a single session polishes surface texture, brightens tone and pigment, and stimulates deeper dermal remodeling.

HALO Tribrid is often combined with BBL HEROic for optimal photo-rejuvenation.

Treatment Plan
Remarkable results can be achieved in 1-2 treatments. When treating patients with deeper acne scars, HALO Tribrid may be combined with ProFractional Laser for deeper resurfacing and may require multiple sessions spaced over a longer period of time.

Improved skin clarity and radiance are typically seen after approximately one week. Maintenance treatments are typically done every 6-12 months.

What To Expect
On the day of treatment, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area for approximately 60 minutes. The treatment itself is quick, typically taking no more than 15-30 minutes. Immediate aftercare will be provided by the team.

Before Your Treatment

One Month Prior To Treatment

  • Avoid intentional tanning.
  • Apply sunscreen every day prior to treatment.

Five - Seven Days Prior To Treatment

  • Avoid NSAIDs/blood-thinning supplements if medically safe: ibuprofen/naproxen/aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo, fish oil, etc. If prescribed anticoagulants, do not stop without approval of the prescribing clinician.
  • Stop topical irritants on treatment area: retinoids (retinol, tretinoin), exfoliating acids, benzoyl peroxide
  • Avoid waxing/depilatories/tweezing/bleaching/dermaplaning on area.

Two Days Prior To Treatment

  • If history of HSV/cold sores, start antiviral prophylaxis per provider plan.
  • Facial hair in men should be trimmed 24-48 hours prior to treatment.

Day of Treatment

  • Tylenol may be taken pre-visit to reduce discomfort (avoid NSAIDs unless your clinician approves).
  • Arrive with clean skin (no makeup/lotion/perfume).
  • Expect topical numbing ~60 minutes, then treatment typically ~15–30 min (can be longer depending on area and treatment density).
  • Immediate post-care instructions + products provided by the team.

Aftercare & Recovery

  • Feeling of warmth: Can be intense for 2–4 hours; may remain warm 12–24 hours. Cold compress/ice packs can help.
  • Redness (Erythema): Redness is normal and expected and often increases over the first few days (commonly most intense around day 2-3). It can persist for up to 10-14 days, depending on the intensity of treatment.
  • Point of bleeding: May occur for a few hours up to ~12 hours; dab gently with clean damp gauze.
  • Swelling and tightness: Common immediately; often most noticeable the first morning after treatment; can last 2–4 days. Swelling may be significant with aggressive treatments, especially around the under eyes. Cold compresses + head elevation can help. Antihistamines such as Zyrtec and Claritin may also help reduce swelling.
  • MENDs (Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris): Tiny dark “peppery” dots/bronzing usually show up day 2–3. Do not pick/scratch.
  • Dryness/flaking/peeling/itching: Dry, sandpapery texture is normal. Face often completes peeling ~5–7 days; neck/chest/body can take up to ~2 weeks. Mild itching can occur; consider oral antihistamine (may cause drowsiness). Avoid scratching. If you experience rash, severe itch, pus, or worsening pain, contact the office.

What to Avoid

  • No picking/scrubbing/exfoliating tools/Clarisonic/brushes until fully healed.
  • Avoid retinoids, acids, vitamin C and exfoliants until cleared at follow-up (commonly ~2 weeks).
  • Avoid overheating/heavy sweating, or exercise until peeling is complete (or longer if instructed).
  • Avoid alcohol for 48 hours.
  • Avoid shaving treated skin until healed (often ~7 days).
  • Avoid swimming/hot tubs/saunas for 1 week (infection + irritation risk).
  • Avoid getting shampoo/conditioner on treated skin for the first 48 hours when possible.

After Your Treatment
Keep skin CLEAN and MOISTURIZED. If your skin is dry to the touch, re-apply the recommended skin care products. You may need to re-apply moisturizer 5x per day – that’s ok! Sun avoidance and mineral sunscreen on the following day are essential.

Day Zero (procedure day)

  • Wash hands before applying post-procedure skin care. Keep skin moist with your provided post-procedure cream/occlusive + thermal water spray as directed. Otherwise, hands off the face and avoid picking.
  • Change pillowcase cover to a new one.
  • Cold compress as needed; sleep with head elevated (2 pillows) first night to limit swelling; antihistamines such as Zyrtec may be recommended for patients prone to swelling.
  • Pain: prefer Extra Strength Tylenol.
  • Continue to take your antiviral medication, if prescribed by your healthcare provider
  • Evening: gentle rinse with lukewarm water + gentle cleanser; pat dry; reapply a thin layer of post-procedure cream.

Day One – Two

  • Cleanse 2x/day with lukewarm water + gentle cleanser; pat dry. Do not rub/scrub.
  • Reapply post-procedure cream/occlusive as needed to prevent drying out.
  • Day 1 onward (sun protection is non-negotiable): Start broad-spectrum SPF ≥30 the day after treatment, apply 20 minutes before sun, reapply every 2 hours; wide-brimmed hat/coverage if outdoors. Use diligently up to 3 months; avoid direct / prolonged sun exposure for ~2 months post-procedure when possible.

Day Three – Fourteen

  • Continue gentle cleanse 2x/day + moisturize generously (no acids/exfoliants).
  • Expect MENDs to shed naturally; do not force peeling.
  • Makeup: typically once peeling is complete; tinted moisturizer may be ok earlier per provider guidance.
  • Resume full routine only when cleared (often ~ 2-4 weeks).

Side Effects
Common side effects of HALO Tribrid® treatment include feeling of warmth, swelling, peeling/MENDs, and transient pigment darkening as spots lift. Rarely, hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation (higher risk with sun exposure, picking, or in patients with more melanated skin), infection, HSV flare) may occur.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

HALO Tribrid is a complete skin revitalization laser treatment. You will see overall improvements in your skin including a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduced pore size, improved skin reflectivity and glow, and significant removal of discoloration.

What’s great about HALO Tribrid is that you can choose how many treatments you want! Discuss your needs with your clinician and you can choose to have one or two more aggressive treatments or have multiple treatments that are less aggressive and achieve a similar goal over a longer period of time.

Thirty minutes to an hour before the treatment your clinician may place a topical anesthetic on your skin to reduce the sensation during the procedure. The area will be measured with motion tracking technology to ensure the area is treated evenly. Your clinician will treat each measured area by uniformly rolling the HALO Tribrid handpiece over your skin until the system recognizes the treatment is complete.

With a topical anesthetic and integrated cooling technology, patients typically experience very little discomfort. Most patients describe the treatment as a feeling of heat with occasional prickling sensations, but are generally comfortable. After the treatment, most patients will continue to feel warm for an additional 15 to 30 minutes, or a bit longer with deeper treatment levels.

For the first 24 hours you should keep your skin protected according to your clinician’s instructions, but after that you should be able to go about your normal activities. After the first 24 hours your skin will begin to peel, but you will be able to put on makeup. For a facial treatment, you will see very little change on the first day. After two to three days you will develop a light bronzing appearance. By day three or four your skin will peel, revealing your new skin beneath.

You will see initial results between two and five days after your HALO Tribrid treatment, but your skin will continue to improve over time. Most patients see the greatest pigmentary improvement in the first two to three weeks. This is followed by a dermal regeneration phase that continues to improve for months.

HALO Tribrid results will last for years to come, but you should continue to keep your skin protected at all times using UV sunscreen to protect your new, healthy skin. Each additional HALO treatment you get will only improve the results, giving you even better looking skin.

Each HALO Tribrid treatment is customized for your skin, and your lifestyle. Depending on your needs, your provider may recommend a single treatment, or a series of treatments. In order to find out which is the best option for you, please visit a provider near you for a consultation.
