Treatment Overview

Gentle Treatment, Powerful Results

Moxi laser treatment provides rejuvenation and prejuvenation benefits that brighten & refresh skin for a clear, glowing complexion.

Moxi’s non-ablative 1927nm wavelength brightens skin, refreshing the feel and tone! You can use Moxi to correct the initial signs of sun damage and aging—any skin type, any time of the year.

Moxi

Targets
Sun damage, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, poor skin texture, dull skin, prejuvenation, collagen building, melasma.

Overview
The MOXI Laser is the latest in non-ablative laser technology, created to offer a gentle skin rejuvenation experience without wounding the skin. Unlike traditional lasers that can require up to 3 weeks of downtime, our patients love the way the MOXI uses gentle microscopic laser energy to help refresh the skin’s surface. The 1927nm wavelength laser helps promote new cell growth, improves skin tone and texture, and reduces unwanted pigment all without major downtime.

Importantly, MOXI is an option for ALL skin types. Unlike many ablative lasers that are only used for certain skin types and tones, the MOXI laser works for all patients and can be combined with other laser and light treatments for patients that have more advanced signs of aging.

MOXI Laser is also the perfect introductory laser because, as a non-ablative laser, there is no wounding of the skin. It’s perfect for younger patients that want to prevent further age-related skin damage and enjoy smooth, firm skin well into their later years.

Known as a “lunchtime procedure,” the MOXI treatment is quick, with as little as 30 minutes to complete and with minimal downtime.

Treatment Plan
MOXI Laser for corrective results are typically performed in a series of 3-4 treatment, spaced 4-6 weeks apart to see improvements in skin tone. Maintenance treatments are typically done every 3-6 months. Improved skin clarity and radiance are typically seen after 1 week.

What To Expect
On the day of treatment, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area for approximately 30 minutes. The treatment itself is quick, typically taking no more than 10 minutes. Immediate aftercare includes Vitamin C, a hydrating mask, and sunscreen.

Pre-Treatment Instructions

Two Weeks Prior to Treatment

  • Avoid intentional tanning.
  • Apply sunscreen every day prior to treatment.

Four Days Prior To Treatment

  • Avoid taking ibuprofen, Aleve®, aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba.
  • Avoid topical retinoids including retinol, Retin-A, or tretinoin cream.
  • Avoid hair removal creams, waxing, tweezing, or bleaching the treatment area.

Two Days Prior To Treatment

  • If you have a history of herpes / cold sores around the treatment area, discuss with your injector about starting an antiviral medication two days before your appointment.

Day of Treatment

  • Have a snack and hydrate an hour before your appointment.
  • Arrive for treatment with clean skin – there should be no lotion, make-up, perfume on the skin.

Aftercare & Recovery

  • Feeling of warmth: The treated area may be warm for 1-2 hours after the treatment. Warmth may continue for 12-24 hours.
  • What to do: Cold compresses may provide comfort during this time.
  • Redness (Erythema): Redness is normal and expected. It can persist for up to 7 days depending on the intensity of treatment.
  • What to do: Use gentle cleansers and keep your skin moisturized and out of the sun which will allow your skin time to heal.
  • MENDs (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris): MENDs will appear on the 2nd or 3rd day after treatment as tiny dark spots and bronzed appearance.
  • MENDs are a part of the healing process where treated tissue is working its way out of your body as new fresh skin is regenerated.
  • During this time, your skin will be very dry and feel like sandpaper before flaking and peeling off. Keep your skin well moisturized to support the healing process.
  • Avoid any active ingredients such as retinol, tretinoin, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid until your skin has fully recovered.

After Your Treatment

These pre- & post-care instructions are intended to guide you through the treatment process and get you on your way to gorgeous!

  1. CLEANSING
Cleanse the skin two times a day with plain, lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser, beginning the morning after treatment. Use your hands and gentle patting motions. Do NOT rub, scrub, use an exfoliant or skin care brush.
  2. MOISTURIZER
Moisturizer should be applied generously with clean hands over treated area and reapplied whenever your skin feels dry. Do NOT apply products that were not instructed by your doctor – e.g. essential oils, coconut oil, etc.
  3. SUNSCREEN
Sunscreen is a MUST and should be used daily beginning the day after treatment and used consistently for up to 3 months post-procedure. Use a physical sunscreen with broadband UVA and UVB protection and an SPF of 30 or more. Ensure to reapply during sun exposure.

"I am somewhat of a beauty junkie, truth be told."

I’ve been getting facials for years and when a friend recommended Elinea, which I thought was strictly a MedSpa, I thought why not? After many months without a skin care treatment, I went in yesterday for my first dermaplane and hydrafacial experience yesterday based on a friends recommendation. Monica was my super esthetician and she is amazing. She is very knowledgeable about products and treatments. I had a bunch of skincare questions and Monica was really informative. I know there are other advanced procedures at Elinea such as Botox, injectables, etc but for me and for now, I am happy taking small steps in my journey to great skin. Elinea is a warm and beautiful new space in the Castro. I am booking my next skincare treatment now!

I've been getting facials for years and when a friend recommended Elinea, which I thought was strictly a MedSpa, I thought why not? I've been to a number of salons in the city and like to keep my options open. Monica did a hydrofacial for me which was truly one of the best immediate gratifications facially I can remember. The next day, I looked seriously five years younger. My skin was taut, supple and super hydrated...many fine lines were minimized. I'm definitely going to get this treatment again. Monica knows her stuff.
