Under eye rejuvenation with Illuminate PRP™
The under eye area is one of the most delicate and thin-skinned regions of the face, making it especially prone to early signs of aging. As collagen production naturally declines (by about 1% per year after age 25), skin under the eyes can become thinner, darker, and more hollow, contributing to a tired or aged appearance.
Under eye rejuvenation with Illuminate PRP™ uses your body’s own platelet-rich plasma—extracted from a simple blood draw—to restore vibrancy and support structural integrity in this fragile area. PRP is rich in growth factors and regenerative proteins that stimulate collagen and elastin production, improve circulation, and thicken the skin over time.
During the treatment, PRP is carefully injected into the tear trough region using a fine needle. These targeted injections deliver healing factors deep into the skin, encouraging tissue repair, improved texture, and a more refreshed appearance from the inside out. Over the following weeks, patients notice progressive brightening, smoother skin, and softened hollows or fine lines.

Targets
Dark circles, under-eye hollowness, crepey texture, thinning skin, fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, poor microcirculation, early signs of aging, and loss of skin elasticity in the under eye region.
Treatment Plan
Each PRP Under Eye treatment takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes, from start to finish. For optimal results, most patients require a series of 3 to 4 sessions, spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart. Once desired results are achieved, maintenance treatments are recommended twice per year. Results begin to appear gradually within 6 to 8 weeks after treatment, with continued improvement over the following months as collagen regeneration and tissue repair progress.
PRP can be used on its own or combined with other aesthetic treatments—such as microneedling or laser therapies—to enhance results and address multiple concerns at once. This approach is ideal for patients who prefer a more natural rejuvenation method or want to avoid or delay the use of dermal fillers in this sensitive area.
What To Expect
If it’s your first time receiving PRP injections in the under-eye area, your experience will begin with a personalized consultation to assess your goals and determine if PRP is the right fit. On the day of treatment, a small sample of blood will be drawn from your arm and processed in a centrifuge to extract the platelet-rich plasma. After cleansing the under eye area, your provider may apply a topical numbing cream for added comfort. The PRP is then precisely injected into the tear troughs using a fine needle.
After treatment, you can expect mild swelling or puffiness for 1 to 3 days, and minor bruising is possible but usually resolves within a week. Most patients can return to work or daily activities the same day. To support healing, it’s best to avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and makeup for 24 to 48 hours. Improvements such as softening of fine lines and a brighter under-eye appearance may become noticeable within 6 to 8 weeks, with continued enhancement over the following months.
Pre-Treatment Instructions
Two Weeks Prior To Treatment
- Avoid intentional tanning or sunburn to the face.
- Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen daily to protect the delicate under-eye area.
Four Days Prior To Treatment
- Discontinue use of blood-thinning medications and supplements (such as ibuprofen, Aleve®, aspirin, vitamin E, fish oil, or ginkgo biloba) if medically cleared, to reduce the risk of bruising.
- Avoid alcohol to minimize inflammation and bruising.
Two Days Prior To Treatment
- Pause use of topical retinoids, including retinol, tretinoin (Retin-A), and glycolic acid products around the eye area.
- Refrain from waxing, tweezing, or using depilatory creams around the eye area.
Day of Treatment
- Arrive with a clean face—free of makeup, moisturizer, eye cream, or SPF.
- Eat a light meal and stay well hydrated before your appointment, as a blood draw is required for PRP preparation.
Aftercare & Recovery
- Mild swelling, puffiness, or slight bruising under the eyes is common and may last 1–3 days.
- Swelling typically peaks the first evening and improves quickly.
- Avoid applying makeup, skincare products, or active ingredients (retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, vitamin C) near the eyes for at least 48 hours post-treatment.
- Avoid alcohol, heavy exercise, hot showers, or sauna use for 24–48 hours to support optimal healing and minimize bruising.
- Refrain from massaging or rubbing the under-eye area.
- Do not use ice directly under the eyes unless directed by your provider.
- Avoid sun exposure, tanning, or use of hot tools (steamers, heating pads) near the treated area until all swelling has subsided.
- Use a gentle, hydrating eye cream only if recommended by your provider.
- Apply SPF daily to protect the fragile under-eye skin and preserve results.
Side Effects
- Common side effects include mild to moderate swelling, puffiness, tenderness, or bruising around the injection sites. These typically resolve within a few days.
- Temporary under eye fullness or a “puffy” appearance may occur and usually subsides as the PRP absorbs and healing begins.
- Less common effects include tightness, itching, or small lumps at the injection site, which generally resolve without intervention.
