Overview
Dermal Fillers are cosmetic injections used to add volume to areas of hollowness and enhance definition in areas of the face. We offer a selection of dermal fillers, depending on your aesthetic goals. Results are immediate and take up to ten days for full effect.
Treatment Plan
Treatments are typically spaced out every 12 to 18 months.
What To Expect
If it’s your first time receiving dermal filler treatment, you’ll have a separate consultation with the provider to first assess your goals and develop a treatment plan. On the day of treatment, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area for approximately 20 minutes. The treatment itself takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes depending on the areas treated.
Pre-Treatment Instructions
Four Days Prior to Treatment
- Avoid taking ibuprofen, aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba to reduce your risk of bruising or bleeding.
Two Days Prior to Treatment
- Avoid alcoholic beverages.
- If you have a history of herpes / cold sores around the treatment area, discuss with your injector about starting an antiviral medication two days before your appointment.
- Avoid topical retinoids and retinol.
- Avoid hair removal creams, waxing, tweezing, or bleaching the treatment area.
Day of Treatment
- Have a snack and hydrate an hour before your appointment.
Aftercare & Recovery
- Results are immediate, with full results appearing within two weeks.
- Mild redness and swelling typically occur after treatment.
- You may resume normal activity immediately; however, we do recommend avoiding intense exercise and alcohol for 24 hours after treatment to help reduce any swelling.
- Avoid applying makeup for 6 hours after treatment.
- Avoid tanning, saunas, hot tubs, hot wax, or prolonged sun exposure until swelling and redness subside.
- Do not apply pressure to the treated area, no facial massages, no Hydrafacial® for 24 hours after your treatment.
- Washing your face with gentle pressure is okay!
Side Effects
Common side effects of dermal fillers include minor swelling, bruising, and redness at the injection site immediately after treatment. Adverse side effects are uncommon but may occur. Contact your provider immediately if severe side effects occur: infection, filler migration, pain around the injection site hours after treatment, mottling or dullness to the skin around injection site or surrounding area. If you experience any of these symptoms, please contact our clinic.
